Baronial Residence
Washington, DC
This 1890’s Victorian townhouse in Capitol Hill had seen many piecemeal renovations in its past. The current owners, came to us with specific modernization and expansion requirements, and a broad mandate to reinforce the historic architecture. Ossolinski Architects selectively removed past mistakes and poorly executed finishes. Yet we preserved and extended those parts that we deemed compatible, if not original. We then added a small rear addition to accommodate a new, larger kitchen, inserted a powder room, created larger openings between rooms to improve circulation, and added an elaborate, two level master bath and closet suite. The result seamlessly melds historic preservation with today’s modern living.
